Director General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs chaired consultative meeting of the National Social Protection

The Director General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Adde Mukhtar, chaired the Second Meeting of the Consultative Committee on the drafting of the National Policy on Social Protection which was held at Jazeera Hotel in Mogadishu.

This meeting was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Aid and Disaster Management and the Ministry of Planning of the Federal Government. The meeting was participated by the ministries that handle the social services such as the Ministries of Health, Agriculture, Justice, Education, Women and the Development of Human Rights, Planning, Fisheries and Maritime Resources, Department of Social Affairs of the Office of the President, Benadir Region Administration, Regional State Governments, Governmental Agency Advisers and senior officials from WFP, UNICEF and Samuelhall.org

The Director General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs Mohammed Adde Mukhtar opened the meeting and said: “we are all here to discuss the government’s earlier set up plan on National Policy on Social Protection. We will began to engage in all the cities of the Regional States of the country to convince them on the process of drafting the Social Protection Policy.

The Director General has provided a detailed explanation of drafting the National Policy on Social Protection as he highlighted that this consultation can be lead to the development of the vulnerable Community.

A swell, Kourtnie schaefer who is the head of samuelhall said: “This plan is important for benefiting the different sectors of the vulnerable people that are in need of getting policy on Social Protection”

Mrs. Kourtnie has gone into detail the benefits of Social Protection which was part of her presentations. She pledged that the Samuelhall agency is ready to work on the National Social Protection Policy.

Finally, all the participants of the meeting contributed meaningful ideas on the item of discussion of the meeting and adding asking some questions about the approach to the drafting of the National Protection Policy for Somalia.
