Ministries of Social Services participated consultative meeting on the Social Protection Policy

The ministries of the social service of the Somali federal government attended on consultation meeting of social protection policy which was organized by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, ministry of Humanitarian and Disaster Management and Ministry of Planning of the Somali federal Government held in the capital city of Mogadishu.

The meeting was jointly chaired by the ministry of labor and social affairs, ministry of public worker and construction, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Health and Social care, deputy Ministry of Education, Deputy Minister of youth and sports including Director General of the Ministry of Fisheries and marine resources, Director General of the Ministry of Minerals and Petroleum and high delegates from Samuel Hall, UNICEF & WFP whose supporting by the federal government the implementation  of this program.

 

The main objective of meetings was to collect the ideas and recommendations of the Ministries of the Social Services of the federal government of Somalia and how-to enforcement the social protection Policy towards the vulnerable communities in the whole country of Somalia.

 

During the consultation meeting of the ministries of social services and Director Generals it was agreed to hire experts whose responsible ways and strategies to write the social protection policy to get protective environment that promotes and protects our vulnerable communities.

 

As meeting continues Mss. Fardowsa Abdullah, from the ministry of labor and social affairs and the adviser of the ministry had deeply explained the current and previous situation of social protection and highlighted and said; over the past 25 years, Somalia has endured violence, political instability and environmental and economic shocks, leaving Somalia among the least developed countries in the world. Over half of our population lives critical social protection issues.

The Director General of the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, Mr. Mohamed Adde Muqtaar, welcomed all the members’ attended the consultation meeting as he was mentioned that the social protection policy is useful for the people and the country.

The minister of Labor and Social Affairs, Hon. Salah Ahmed Jama who was the forefront of the consultation meeting discussed several issues that regards with social protection and what the ministries of the social services needed and how its important the collective responsibility and joint collaboration of the ministries, on the other hand the social protection policies that we want is the one  that everyone needs and access to healthcare, children who are suffering from poor parenting it is important including farmers and livestock to deliver the care and service of the Somali Federal government.

The Ministry of labor and social affairs Hon. Salah Ahmed Jama closed the consultation meeting officially and thanked all the members of the meeting for their practical contribution on how to write and develop the social protection policy and determination during the meeting and effectively participating of the consultative meeting.
